2. Only films that meet the following criteria may be chosen for invitation to the official selection: i) Films that have been produced during the eighteen months preceding the Festival;
Sólo films producidos 18 meses antes del festival. O sea, sólo novedades, nada de viejos trabajos, aunque sean muy buenos. Lo que hace que el creador/productora no pueda rentabilizar sus piezas.

ii) If participating in the "Short Film" category, films should not exceed 15 minutes in length, including credits and can be screened in DVD. 3. Throughout the duration of the Festival, none of the films invited may be shown outside the Festival's official theatres before its official screening.
No pueden haber sido estrenado anteriormente. Debe ser "inédito", exclusividad en el estreno que tampoco compartimos.

4. Once a film has been selected it cannot be withdrawn from the Festival programme during the event.
Una vez que una película ha sido seleccionada no puede ser retirada de la programación.

All subtitling expenses are to be met by the film's producer.
5. All non-English speaking films must be presented in their original version with English subtitles. 6. English language films must be subtitled in Spanish for the final screened version.

7. The Board of Directors selects all members of the jury for competition and screening. Each jury member will vote by a secret ballot. No person having taken part in the production or promotion of a film in competition may be on the jury.
Debe ser un tipo de votación donde los jurados no deciden conjuntamente, sino secretamente. Parecida a la que nos contaba un miembro del jurado en la entrada Irregularidades en Young Illustration Award 2010 (YIA)

13. Submission fees: 13.1. Submissions are free for early bird calls up to 15th March 2011 13.2. Standard submission fee of £30-00, applicable from 15th March to 15th May 2011. 13.3. late submissions fees of £40-00, applicable from 15th May to 15th June 2011. 13.4. WAB, Extended deadline submission fee of £50-00, applicable from 15th June to 15th July 2011.
Según la fecha en la que presentes tu film (de menos de 15 minutos) pagas 30, 40 o 50 libras. OmG.

14.Marbella International Film Festival is organised by New World Trust, a non-profit organisation that supports many different programmes and initiatives within the industry.

20. If your film is selected for screening at the festival, you must attend the festival, at your own expense, during 14th to 16th October 2011, to promote and support your film, and collect your award.
Firmando las bases aceptas asistir al festival pagándolo tú. Luego veremos que además parece ser que te cobran por asistir 125 libras.

Imaginamos que te cobran ese dinero por ir a este lugar (compárese con este otro lugar.)

Furthermore by completing the initial online submission form (you/ your company) agree to the Festival’s terms of the release as follows;

5) [You / The Company] will be solely responsible for all costs resulting from the submission of the film to the Festival including but not limited to postage or insurance of the film, transport costs of the film to and from the Festival and travel costs and expenses of your staff or any representatives of the film.
"Por si no te has enterao" todo lo que tenga que ver con tu película lo pagas tú, transportes del film y los viajes para asistir a los eventos.

6) [You / The Company] will indemnify the organisers of the Festival against all claims, demands, costs, damages, expenses (including legal fees), proceedings and losses resulting from the screening of the film at the Festival or from claims by any third parties.

12) [You / The Company] understand[s] that there are no fees [due to you / it] for screening the film at the Festival or for any other matters arising from the submission of the film to the Festival and accept that the organisers of the Festival are therefore under no obligation to pay you any sums
Asumes que no te van a pagar nada por proyectar tu film, y que la organización no tiene que pagarte nada de nada.

15) [You / The Company] agree[s] that any legal dispute between [you / the company] and the organisers of the Festival will be heard in the English courts according to the law of England and Wales

En ningún momento en las Rules & Regulations, ni en la web del festival ( por más que hemos buscado no hemos encontrado) se habla de dinero para los creadores, ni siquiera para los ganadores de los premios.

Hemos accedido a esta convocatoria a través de una usuaria que nos mandaba este mail:

" ... puedo entender que se pague por participar o por entrar en un concurso... Vale, uno sabe las reglas y decide cuál es su estrategia. Hasta ahí todo bien.

El Marbella International Film Festival es el peor timo que he visto en mi vida.

Si los cortos se envían en un primer periodo, no cuesta inscribirse.
No pagan por proyección, pero hay algún premio (dinos dónde lo pone) . Hasta ahí, también, todo ok.

Pero la parte divertida empieza cuando te avisan que tu corto ha sido seleccionado entre millones de millones de cortos, y te dicen que es lo mejor que te ha pasado en la vida.

Cuando revisas los papeles que tienes que firmar y enviar, te topas con que al delegado que vaya a hacerse cargo de que el corto se seleccione y de darle difusión y demás, (porque esto te lo exigen) le cobran 125 LIBRAS!!!! (Ojo, esto en Marbella, España) por asistir.
Y te ofrecen el precio reducido si lo haces antes de x fecha (naturalmente anterior a la fecha de envío de el correo... qué cachondos). :)))))

Lo mejor es que revisando las reglas que leí antes de mandarlo -dudaba de mi propia estupidez...- no aparece nada de esto. No se menciona en ningún sitio que tendrás que pagar por mostrar gratis tu película, además de hacerte cargo de la difusión de éste. (lo de la difusión si aperece)

En resumen. Si te seleccionan pagas por participar.

Pagas por proyectar.

Trabajas gratis haciendo la promocion del festi y de tu peli.

Buen negocio, no? . "
